US Authorities Unveil Key Findings on Wigwe Helicopter Crash

In a heartbreaking incident, the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Herbert Wigwe, Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holding Plc, along with his wife, son, and others, has been attributed to wintry weather conditions. According to initial findings from the National Transportation Safety Board and aviation authorities in the United States, the adverse weather played a significant role in the tragic event.

During a media briefing held on Saturday (3 am Nigerian time, Sunday), Michael Graham, a member of the National Transportation Safety Board, stated that witness reports indicated rain and a wintry mix during the accident. Unfortunately, the helicopter was not equipped with a cockpit voice recorder or a flight data recorder, as it was not required to have these recording devices.

While further details about the passengers remain undisclosed, the coroner’s office will eventually release their names1. Access Bank has already confirmed the devastating loss of Herbert Wigwe and his family members in this unfortunate incident1.

May their souls rest in peace. 🙏🚁
